ST001 Sunbeam Talbot 90 MkIIa – Black
New tooling in this popular scale extends the fleet of Oxford Diecast saloon cars from the 1950s and 1960s with a superb example of the Sunbeam Talbot 90 MkIIa. Many of us no doubt remember our older – and perhaps more affluent - relatives owning a Sunbeam Talbot, which was very stylish for its day with its sweeping lines.
The MKIIa was made between 1952 and 1954 and succeeded the MkII, which will release over the next few months – another new Oxford introduction. The MkIIa had a higher compression engine, raising output to 77 bhp. To cater for the higher speeds you could achieve in this upgraded car, the manufacturers – the Rootes Group - enlarged the brakes, as well as piercing the wheels to improve the brake cooling. The integral rear wheel spats were no longer featured either. Almost 11,000 were made over the two years of manufacture – twice the number for the earlier MkII version. Our newly launched model comes in black with chrome trim. Very smart!
